Our Story
Our practice places the client’s vision and values above all else, emphasizing a holistic, hands-on design process to discover each project’s full potential.
Your Story. Where we reside is as personal as it gets. Whether you’re ready to create the ultimate retreat for your family to gather on weekends, or are a midcentury lover who’s dreamt of riffing on a classic Lautner, our process begins by gaining an intimate understanding of you. Your needs, dreams, and desires are what give shape to your space.
Open channels. To design thoughtful homes in the image of our clients, we draw on years’ experience placing trust and transparency at the center of our practice. Our adept ability to create an environment of understanding facilitates open, honest communication, in turn fostering a highly collaborative atmosphere for fearless exploration.
Places with impact. Crafting a distinctive residence is a highly technical exercise. We emphasize an innovation-led design approach that leverages precision and control to create timeless, inspirational homes. Our goal is to not only deliver refined spaces that are deeply personal, but also experiences that last a lifetime.
The Studio
Bspk Design is an award-winning, full-service residential design studio based in Venice, California, founded by firm partners Chris Faulhammer and Roman Reiterer. The two principals bring a combined 50 years’ experience to their shared craft of personalized home design, having completed more than 400 projects between them across disciplines in a range of high-profile studio environments.
Their practice emphasizes timelessness over trends, a design approach that minimizes chaos and maximizes the sensation of physical and emotional comfort in service of the client.
Creating homes catered to the individual is Bspk Design’s highest priority. As a designer and project manager at other firms, Roman saw how conflicting visions jeopardized relationships, and thus a project’s potential. Determined to do better, he founded his previous firm, RRID, in 2003, to place the needs of the client above all else.
It was kismet that he met Chris, who brought a wealth of experience to RRID having worked for renowned Los Angeles firms such as Frank Gehry Partners and Lorcan O’Herlihy. The two melded their respective backgrounds within residential design, discovering an effortless understanding of values that resulted in the best possible outcomes for everyone involved with a project.
Following a hiatus, Chris and Roman reunited to form Bspk Design at the beginning of 2018 to create highly personal homes with an unparalleled design experience. Their collaborative practice is deepened by their shared love of Los Angeles, a city that harbors a sense of discovery and progressive spirit that continues to inspire their work.
Design Process
Based on Bspk’s Decades of extensive experience, each project follows a proven process for success. In addition, each step in the process is customized to the clients needs and desires creating a truly bespoke home.
The Team
Roman Reiterer
Principal
_
Roman was born in Vienna, Austria, where his parents’ professional lives as therapists inspired a curiosity around how environments can have a positive emotional impact. He experienced this firsthand when, on a trip to Los Angeles at five years old with his family, he was struck deeply by the city’s wide-open, limitless feel. Determined to return, he took advantage of Austria’s education system and fostered his childhood curiosity by studying interior design and furniture making. Roman would move to Los Angeles to attend UCLA, where he earned his master’s in interior architecture. Whereas studies in Austria emphasized theory over practice, the California university’s curriculum granted him the freedom for hands-on exploration, a core tenet of Bspk Design’s practice.

In 2006 he moved to Los Angeles for its opportunities in modern design, and soon began collaborating with Roman at his previous firm, RRID. Chris has held positions at lauded firms such as Frank Gehry Partners, Lorcan O’Herlihy, and Xten Architecture, where he gained invaluable experience as a designer and project manager on a range of dynamic projects including renowned concert venues and multimillion-dollar homes.
